We have E. Lynn Harris' Basketball Jones. Mr. Harris died in July of this year. He is a major African-American voice of contemporary adult fiction. This audio book has adult themes. It is something completely new for our site, but I thought this was an opportunity to sample the work of an author most of us may not know.

We Have The Lost Symbol Audio Book!

Those of you who loved The Da Vinci Code (and there were millions of you), we have Dan Brown's follow-up, The Lost Symbol. This 14 CD 17.5 hour audio book is getting wonderful reviews.

I'm hesistant to start listening because usually all the copies go out before I can get through that long a title. The other problem is that I like to save a long audio book for drives to and from Texas or California. But I'm not planning a trip anytime soon so I will have to do short sessions going into town. The might result in a very long period before I finish and review this book!

Just got in an unabridged audio book version of Scarpetta by Patricia Cornwell. This latest in the Kay Scarpetta series was not well-received. But if you're a fan, you will want to catch up. It will be available on the site over the 4th of July weekend.

The Scarecrow & Chasing Darkness - June 12, 2009

Just in two audio books featuring Los Angeles locales. Published in June 2009, Michael Connelly brings back Los Angeles Times crime reporter Jack McEvoy, last seen in The Poet. Jack is now nearing the end of his career at the Times as newroom layoffs loom. He wants to leave with a bang, the big story. His investigation of a murder by a sixteen-year-old drug dealer provides much more.

Also making another appearance is FBI Agent Rachel Walling, who seems to have a thing for Connelly men. If you like the Harry Bosch series, and I certainly do, The Scarecrow is a welcome summer title.

We are starting to get more titles sold to us by our customers. Chasing Dakrness: An Elvis Cole Novel is by Robert Crais. If you love the more hard-boiled PI style of plot, you should try Robert Crais.
